Material listens.
The hand imagines.

Simone Scapini is an artist blacksmith. He hot-forges iron, seeking soft lines, movement and character in the material. The detail belongs to the design as much as the overall form.

Dialogue is part of his work. With clients, to understand the spaces they inhabit. With painters, architects and musicians, to see the same material from different perspectives.

The measure of a gesture

Everything,
in one strike.

Iron. The hammer. The instant a form is born.

Iron changes.
The gesture remains.

Heat makes the gesture possible. The hammer, strike after strike, gives shape to the iron.

Know. Make. Share.

Learning to forge.
And to see further.

The school was born from a desire to pass on workshop experience. Alongside forging techniques, it brings together art history, dialogue between crafts and attention to the setting where a work will belong.

A programme conceived to nurture individual abilities and the capacity to work together.

The archive photographs

The working portrait and original forging photograph are credited to Peter Elovich. The cover is based on Simone’s portrait in the workshop archive. Peter Elovich’s archive photographs come from “Artigianato e Design — La cultura della Manifattura e il Patrimonio Artistico del Territorio”, promoted by CNA Veneto Ovest with contributions from the Vicenza Chamber of Commerce and Ebav. Reworked photographs are identified alongside the relevant images.

The workshop documentary

This video was made as part of “Raccontare l’artigianalità — A&D Artigianato e Design”, a CNA Veneto Ovest project supported by Ebav and Corart.

The blacksmith’s gesture

A three-dimensional line close-up of a hammer and anvil. A single strike and a brief burst of sparks accompany the transition to the forging photograph. This is an illustrative study of the craft, not a physical simulation or a reproduction of a work by Simone.

The new light

The cover and forging scene are AI photographic reinterpretations of real images. Light, setting and details may be reinterpreted: the comparison keeps the source photographs visible. The originals remain the documentary reference.

The photographic studies

Images marked “AI photographic study” are editorial interpretations and may alter details of the work or its setting. The links beside them show the original photographs, which remain the reference for the details.

Studies of form

The three-dimensional animations are illustrative studies of line and material. The staircase in the contact section is an original 3D model inspired by the folded metal treads of “Fuori Salone Milano” in the Scapini Design portfolio. It is a study of form, rather than a reconstruction to scale. The Loretta film is an AI interpretation of the original photograph.
